Software Engineer II – iOS (Hybrid, Rio de Janeiro)

About the role

Uber's Gifting business is expanding globally and needs an iOS Software Engineer to help turn gifting into a core feature of the Uber and Uber Eats apps. This hybrid role is based in Rio de Janeiro and offers the chance to work on high‑visibility, user‑facing products within a startup‑like environment.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer high‑fidelity native and hybrid UI/UX experiences that handle heavy media assets without degrading performance.
• Integrate mobile web technologies into the native iOS app, ensuring seamless transitions between native and WebView content.
• Build gifting surfaces that appear consistently across the Uber rides and Uber Eats platforms.
• Write clean, efficient, well‑tested code and contribute to overall product reliability.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and cross‑functional engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong eye for UI/UX detail and ability to create custom user interfaces.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Swift, Objective‑C, or C.
• Experience with WebView and mobile web integration.
• Familiarity with backend APIs and basic full‑stack concepts.
• Knowledge of Large Language Models or conversational AI integration.
