Tax Manager – Indirect & Direct Tax Specialist

About the role

The Tax Manager will support the Senior Tax Manager in delivering the tax function for SGS in Brazil. This role combines indirect tax compliance, direct tax coordination, and strategic tax projects, ensuring that all tax obligations are met efficiently and in line with Brazilian legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage indirect tax compliance for IPI, PIS, COFINS, ICMS, ICMS‑ST, ISS, PRODEPE, CBS, IBS and related reporting obligations.
• Review tax calculations, ensure accurate accounting, and maintain compliance with special regimes in São Paulo, Pernambuco and Minas Gerais.
• Lead the Tax Reform Project, coordinating IT, external consultants and local teams.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Brazilian tax laws, regulations, rulings and court decisions.
• Act as primary contact with tax authorities and represent SGS during tax audits.
• Support the Direct Tax function, group reporting and Transfer Pricing documentation.
• Provide timely tax advice to business units and support tax‑efficient initiatives.
• Develop and mentor the Brazil tax team, including the Tax Analyst in São Paulo.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Business, Law or Finance.
• Minimum 6 years of tax experience, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong analytical mindset with effective communication and negotiation abilities.

Required skills

• Deep technical knowledge of Brazilian indirect taxation.
• Expertise in tax accounting under IFRS.
• Advanced proficiency with SAP, Tax One and Mastersaf DFE.
• Advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
