Technical Metropolitan Coordinator – CITinova II Project

About the role

The Technical Metropolitan Coordinator will support the implementation of the CITinova II Project in the Metropolitan Region of Florianópolis, working under the UNEP Brazil Office Representative and in close collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and other partners.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the implementation of all project activities in the Metropolitan Region of Florianópolis, ensuring compliance with approved work plans, schedules, budgets, quality standards, expected outputs and project indicators.
• Act as the main focal point for technical coherence and coordination among metropolitan and municipal activities.
• Prepare, implement, monitor and periodically review detailed work plans for metropolitan activities, proposing adaptive management measures when needed.
• Identify implementation risks, bottlenecks and opportunities, and coordinate mitigation measures with the Project Management Unit and relevant stakeholders.
• Oversee technical consultancies under the metropolitan component, ensuring contractual compliance, delivery schedules and alignment with project objectives.
• Provide technical inputs to reports, products and other deliverables prepared by consultancies and partner institutions.
• Support the preparation of Terms of Reference, technical specifications and other procurement documents required for project implementation.
• Lead stakeholder engagement and institutional coordination with municipal, state and federal governments, partner institutions, academia, civil society, local communities and the private sector.
• Facilitate and coordinate meetings, workshops, technical working groups and participatory processes required for project implementation.

Required profile

• Proven experience coordinating technical activities for metropolitan or sustainable‑city projects.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the UNEP Brazil Office Representative and collaborate with national ministries and partner institutions.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement capabilities with municipal, state and federal authorities, academia, civil society and the private sector.
