Customer Credit Risk Management Director

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director of Customer Credit Risk Management to join its Strategy & Operations organization in São Paulo, Brazil. Reporting to the VP of Customer Risk Management for the Americas, you will lead the first line of defense for a portfolio that represents a significant portion of Mastercard’s $90 billion credit exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the CRM strategy and roadmap for the assigned portfolio.
• Perform and review customer credit underwriting analyses, formulate recommendations, and present them to senior leadership.
• Develop risk‑mitigation approaches and negotiate risk terms with customers.
• Design risk‑management solutions for new products and services.
• Engage with regulators and ensure compliance with Mastercard’s policies, procedures, and risk appetite.
• Lead and prioritize a small team of managers and analysts to deliver on CRM initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit risk analysis, underwriting, and risk mitigation, preferably within the payments or financial services sector.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior executives, sales, product teams, and external partners.
• Demonstrated leadership of small analytical teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
