Freelance Simplified Chinese to Brazilian Portuguese – Legal MTPE & Proofreading

About the role

TransPerfect is expanding its pool of long‑term freelancers to support legal localisation projects. The role involves post‑editing machine‑translated content and proofreading contracts, agreements and other legal documents translated from Simplified Chinese into Brazilian Portuguese.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full post‑editing (MTPE) of machine‑translated legal texts.
• Proofread and ensure linguistic and legal accuracy of the final Portuguese version.
• Handle a variety of legal document types, including contracts, agreements and policy statements.
• Meet project deadlines and adhere to confidentiality requirements.

Required profile

• Native speaker of Brazilian Portuguese.
• 2+ years of professional experience in legal localisation with a language‑related degree, or 5+ years without a degree.
• Proven experience translating or post‑editing Simplified Chinese into Portuguese.

Required skills

• Simplified Chinese to Portuguese translation.
• Machine translation post‑editing (MTPE).
• Proofreading of legal documents.
• Familiarity with legal terminology and contracts.
