Site Reliability Engineering Manager

About the role

The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Manager will lead a team that ensures the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of the Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP) and InsuranceSuite products. This role blends hands‑on technical leadership with people management to build a high‑performing SRE organization.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical direction for SRE initiatives, overseeing reliability, scalability, and performance best practices.
• Remain hands‑on, contributing to system design, automation, and incident resolution.
• Design and develop tools for 24x7 follow‑the‑sun operations and drive automation of infrastructure provisioning, deployments, and workflows.
• Implement observability strategies (metrics, logging, tracing) and promote self‑healing systems.
• Partner with engineering teams to influence system design for reliability and operability.
• Design, evolve, and simplify SRE processes such as incident management, capacity planning, and change management.
• Establish and enforce SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets; lead major incident response and blameless post‑mortems.
• Hire, onboard, and develop SRE engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading SRE or reliability engineering teams.
• Strong hands‑on background in system design, automation, and incident resolution.
• Ability to define and enforce reliability standards, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Experience with 24x7 follow‑the‑sun operational models.
• Demonstrated skill in hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
