Head of Auto & Home (A&H) – Brazil

About the role

AIG is seeking a Head of Auto & Home (A&H) for Brazil to lead the underwriting strategy and drive profitability across the personal lines portfolio. This senior position will shape product development, manage risk, and mentor a high‑performing team while ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor the A&H underwriting strategy, aligning profit‑center performance with pricing assumptions and loss ratios.
• Implement and maintain product underwriting manuals, guidelines, and procedures for all personal lines products.
• Support underwriters in portfolio management, corrective actions, growth strategies, and pricing decisions.
• Oversee product development for new and renewal/updated A&H offerings.
• Directly accountable for underwriting results, profitability, and business mix.
• Manage relationships with legal, compliance, regulatory, and actuarial stakeholders.
• Provide strategic coaching to team members to enhance visibility, management skills, and career development.

Required profile

• Senior experience as a manager in the personal insurance industry with full P&L responsibility.
• Proven underwriting expertise, including large‑case underwriting, logical analysis, and documentation.
• Strong background in product development, rate analysis, and portfolio management.
• Experience with affinity partnerships, metric analysis, and profitability assessment.
• Track record of leading complex projects across IT, legal, operations, finance, and actuarial functions.
• Understanding of reinsurance placement and regulatory compliance.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; advanced English required, Spanish desirable.
