Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracts (Brazil)

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a proactive Legal Counsel to support its Customer Risk Management business unit in Brazil. You will work closely with senior legal colleagues and business stakeholders, providing practical advice on commercial and operational matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including both standard and non‑standard contracts.
• Escalate complex or high‑risk issues to senior counsel as needed.
• Partner with business teams to deliver day‑to‑day legal guidance.
• Assist senior counsel on complex transactions, initiatives, and projects.
• Develop, maintain, and improve contract templates, standard terms, and legal processes.
• Coordinate with external counsel and internal subject‑matter experts when required.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, process efficiency, and continuous improvement within the legal function.

Required profile

• Law degree and active admission to the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) in good standing.
• At least 6 years of post‑qualification legal experience, with solid expertise in commercial contracts and negotiations.
• Knowledge of the electronic payments or financial services industry is a plus.
• Strong analytical, drafting, and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast‑paced environment with attention to detail.
• Pragmatic, collaborative, and business‑oriented mindset.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
