Software Engineer I

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer I to join our Game‑based Innovations Lab (GBIL) in Central America. You will design, build, test, and deploy secure backend web services that power learning‑focused games, working closely with data scientists, learning scientists, game designers, and product experts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services using Python, TypeScript, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Write SQL queries, perform data migrations, and create CI/CD automation tools.
• Deploy and scale applications on AWS EKS or other Kubernetes environments.
• Monitor application health, troubleshoot live issues, and implement security mitigations.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from design to production.

Required profile

• 2+ years of full‑time professional software development experience.
• Proficiency with AI‑assisted coding tools.
• Hands‑on experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS).
• Strong problem‑solving attitude and willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
