Auxiliar de Ensino – Preschool Teacher Assistant

About the role

The Preschool Teacher Assistant supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. Working closely with the classroom team, you will help deliver daily lesson plans, supervise activities and contribute to each child’s social, emotional and cognitive development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, learning activities and educational games aligned with the curriculum.
• Monitor children during classroom activities, playtime, meals and outdoor periods to ensure safety and promote positive behaviour.
• Reinforce classroom rules and support behaviour management, guiding children in developing appropriate social skills.
• Prepare and organise learning materials, resources and displays to facilitate hands‑on learning.
• Maintain a clean and hazard‑free classroom, including sanitising toys and equipment.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support for children needing extra assistance or emotional guidance.
• Observe children’s development and communicate observations or concerns to the lead teacher.
• Assist with daily routines such as arrivals, departures, toileting, meals and rest time, fostering independence.
