AVP Financial Controller – Brazil

About the role

The Associate Vice President, Financial Controller will act as the lead finance business partner for the Brazil executive team and support the Jefferies Group CFO & Treasurer. This senior position oversees local finance, regulatory reporting, tax, and treasury functions, ensuring compliance with Brazilian accounting standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with BR GAAP and CVM rules.
• Perform detailed financial statement reviews, tie‑outs, and variance analysis against budget.
• Serve as primary liaison for internal and external auditors, managing audit work papers and regulatory filings.
• Oversee Brazil direct and indirect tax provisions in collaboration with external consultants.
• Support corporate finance, treasury, and tax matters, aligning with Jefferies Accounting Policy and External Reporting groups.
• Recommend improvements to operational effectiveness, internal controls, and financial reporting processes.
• Lead and mentor the local finance team, fostering continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Qualified CRC Accountant (Contador or Contador Público).
• 5‑10 years of experience in broker‑dealer, banking, or capital‑markets environments, including CVM, BCB, and CMN regulations.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Portuguese.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management.
• Demonstrated senior‑level leadership and accountability.
