Controllership Specialist

About the role

Baxter is hiring a Specialist, Controllership in São Paulo, within its Regional Controlling organization. The role is central to ensuring compliance with US GAAP, statutory and tax requirements in Brazil, analysing, processing and correcting accounting activities and flagging irregularities in taxes, statutory regulations and other accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and execution of statutory, US GAAP and tax accounting and reporting for the entities in scope, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare for external statutory audits, engaging stakeholders and delivering audit requirements on time.
• Act as liaison for local tax authorities on day-to-day queries and audits.
• Ensure processes comply with company policies, internal and external audit requirements and local rules, and support strengthening of financial processes and controls.
• Work with finance and non-finance teams and external providers on end-to-end finance processes, and help resolve complex accounting and tax issues.
• Take part in local, regional and global projects, act as an advocate for the finance function and drive continuous process improvement.

Required profile

• At least 7 years in general accounting, with knowledge of local regulations including taxes and national and international best practices.
• Proven experience in a multinational environment and/or in audit.
• Excellent knowledge of local GAAPs and tax matters for the countries in scope, and very good knowledge of US GAAP.
• Master's degree in Finance/Accounting, or part-qualified / qualified ACCA/CPA.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Spanish is a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally and to work additional hours at critical times such as month-end, and occasionally on public holidays.

Required skills

• Strong reporting tools, including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with JDE, Blackline and W-Desk is an advantage.
• Diplomatic, flexible and proactive approach, with excellent communication skills.
