About the role

The Director of Risk Management – Operational Risk & Internal Controls will lead Mastercard Brazil’s internal controls framework, ensuring alignment with the global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) standards and local regulatory requirements. This senior position is pivotal in shaping a robust control environment that supports effective risk mitigation and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and govern the Internal Controls Framework for Mastercard Brazil, adhering to global policies and Brazil’s Resolution No. 150/522.
• Develop and coordinate control testing programs across credit, liquidity, operational, AML, fraud, ESG, and business continuity risk areas.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of manual and automated controls within the internal control environment.
• Assess control effectiveness, recommend enhancements, and update monitoring tools based on risk assessments and regulatory changes.
• Track, manage, and report internal control deliverables, ensuring timely execution of governance commitments.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Regulatory Affairs teams to integrate risk management and internal controls.
• Prepare semi‑annual and annual reports on control effectiveness for internal stakeholders and regulators.
• Lead benchmarking, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives to align with industry best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience in risk management, internal controls, or related fields.
• Proven experience leading internal control frameworks within large financial or payments organizations.
• Deep understanding of Brazilian regulatory requirements, especially Banco Central do Brasil Resolution No. 150/522.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a track record of driving process improvements.
