Financial Controller – Remote (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our accounting function on a fully remote basis for a Brazil‑based real‑estate and construction firm. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the General Ledger, drive the transition from outsourced to in‑house finance, and deliver accurate financial reporting on US business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
• Manage the Chart of Accounts and lead the migration from outsourced accounting to an internal team.
• Oversee month‑end close, reconciliations, and preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, expense reporting, and vendor payments.
• Monitor cash flow, perform bank reconciliations, and coordinate tax reporting (payroll, sales, year‑end).
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant with full GL ownership.
• Strong background in month‑end close and financial reporting.
• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks and supervising bookkeeping teams.
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
• Advanced English proficiency (C1/C2) for written and verbal communication.
