Head of Legal – Brazil

About the role

The Head of Legal – Brazil is the senior legal leader for Takeda’s operations in Brazil. Reporting to the International Legal Leadership Team and sitting on the Brazil Leadership Team, this executive will define and execute the legal strategy, ensuring alignment with global priorities while navigating Brazil’s complex regulatory landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Provide executive‑level counsel on all legal matters affecting the Brazilian business.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing in‑house legal team, fostering an inclusive and results‑driven culture.
• Manage local litigation, labor disputes, product liability cases and oversee external counsel engagements.
• Partner with Ethics & Compliance to embed a strong integrity culture and maintain audit readiness.
• Drive risk‑based decision making while supporting commercial growth and innovation.
• Modernize legal workflows through digital and legal‑tech solutions.
• Represent the legal function in Brazil Leadership Team meetings and contribute to enterprise‑wide decisions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a senior counsel or head of legal in Brazil, preferably within a multinational or pharmaceutical environment.
• Proven track record of leading legal teams and managing complex regulatory and litigation matters.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance risk management with business objectives.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in Portuguese and English.
• Demonstrated cultural fluency and capability to operate at both local and global levels.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of Brazilian corporate, regulatory, labor and product liability law.
• Experience with legal‑tech tools and digital workflow automation.
• Strategic thinking and ability to provide commercially grounded legal advice.
