Medical Director - Cardiology & Obesity (Remote)

About the role

ICON, a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation, is hiring a Medical Director for its Cardiology & Obesity programme (FSP - Sponsor Dedicated). The role drives medical initiatives within project teams, guides strategic direction and decision-making, and provides expert medical and scientific guidance. It is a 100% remote position based in Argentina, Brazil or Mexico.

Key responsibilities

• Lead medical affairs delivery across the portfolio, setting standards and developing the team.
• Provide strategic medical leadership and guidance on project teams.
• Offer expert medical and scientific consultation throughout project lifecycles.
• Ensure compliance with ethical, legal and regulatory standards in medical and safety monitoring activities.
• Represent the Medical Affairs Department in business development initiatives.
• Provide operational oversight within the Medical Affairs Department as needed.

Required profile

• Significant medical affairs experience, with a track record of building high-performing teams and delivering results.
• Medical degree (MD or equivalent); specialization in a relevant therapeutic area preferred.
• Experience in cardiovascular outcomes trials or obesity/GLP-1 studies.
• Proven track record of medical leadership and consultation in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Advanced proficiency in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
• Based in Argentina, Brazil or Mexico, with the legal right to work in the country of residence.
