Middle Database Administrator (SQL, Cloud, AWS)

About the role

A major Brazilian financial institution, specializing in investment banking, wealth management and corporate lending, is hiring a Middle Database Administrator in São Paulo. The role focuses on administering, supporting and optimizing critical SQL Server database environments, with work in hybrid mode.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, support and optimize SQL Server databases, maintaining availability, performance, security, integrity and resilience
• Monitor health, performance, capacity and resource utilization, and tune SQL queries, indexes and execution plans
• Plan capacity and recommend improvements based on projected growth
• Troubleshoot database, application and infrastructure issues and support disaster recovery planning, testing and execution
• Manage backup, restore, replication, contingency and recovery strategies
• Take part in database migration and modernization projects, especially in AWS environments
• Support development teams with query optimization and physical data modeling, and help automate recurring tasks
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures and recovery runbooks, and take part in incident response and problem management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
• Middle-level experience in database administration, in critical or mission-critical environments
• Experience in banking or financial services
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues

Required skills

• Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server
• Cloud and hybrid experience, preferably AWS
• Backup, restore, replication and recovery processes
• Performance tuning, capacity planning and monitoring
• Nice to have: Oracle, PostgreSQL or MySQL; NoSQL; Python, PowerShell or similar scripting; IaC or automation tools; Agile; English at an advanced level
