Programme Coordinator (Consultant)

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is seeking a short‑term Programme Coordinator to support the implementation of its work programme and portfolio in Brazil. This consultant will work closely with UN‑Habitat’s operational and technical teams in Rio de Janeiro for a period of one month.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the development and implementation of the overall programme/portfolio work plan in line with programme documents and agreements.
• Gather inputs and prepare work‑plans, narrative progress reports, and expenditure status reports for the Rio office.
• Develop inception reports, detailed project work plans, and Terms of Reference for project outputs.
• Establish systems for project planning, implementation, and monitoring in collaboration with partners.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely delivery of deliverables.

Required profile

• Proven experience in programme coordination or project management, preferably in an international development context.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to synthesize inputs from multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work with UN‑Habitat staff, government partners, and consultants.
• Fluency in English; Portuguese proficiency is an advantage.
