Programme Coordinator

About the role

The Programme Coordinator will support the "Vida Nova no Morro" project in Niterói, Brazil, working closely with UN‑Habitat, municipal authorities and local partners to advance sustainable urban development in informal settlements.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with programme, operations and project teams to achieve project objectives and UN‑Habitat priorities.
• Strengthen municipal data systems and institutional capacities for social housing policy development.
• Lead housing mapping, community mobilisation and participatory planning activities.
• Provide evidence‑based assessments to inform inclusive, integrated urban development.
• Report to the Head of the Brazil Office and ensure alignment with the Habitat Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., urban planning, development studies, public policy).
• Experience in programme coordination or project management within urban development or humanitarian contexts.
• Familiarity with UN‑Habitat processes, the New Urban Agenda and SDG implementation.
• Ability to work with municipal authorities, NGOs and community groups.
• Strong analytical and communication skills in English; Portuguese is an advantage.
