Purchaser - Equipment Procurement

About the role

BW Energy is looking for a Purchaser in Rio de Janeiro to own the end-to-end procurement of equipment packages, from requisition to delivery on board. The role covers sourcing suppliers, evaluating quotations, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships, working closely with Legal, Finance and other internal teams. It also includes leading a team of project purchasers and improving local supply chain practices.

Key responsibilities

• Procure small to medium equipment packages and oversee the supply chain from requisition to delivery, following Supply Chain procedures and the project Material Management plan.
• Liaise with freight forwarders, clients and logistics to consolidate orders and minimise freight and customs costs.
• Evaluate quotations, prepare and issue RFQs and Purchase Orders in IFS, and negotiate with suppliers.
• Review supplier qualifications with the in-house Legal team, perform TCO/LCC analysis and prepare award recommendations.
• Maintain the IFS database for the group of units, including follow-up on unattended requisitions.
• Manage supplier performance evaluations, certification of milestone payments, contract close-out and document retention.
• Lead a group of project purchasers when needed and supervise expediting, logistics coordination and material receiving.
• Contribute to bid inputs, frame agreements and local supply chain practices, and liaise with the global SC team and the global legal department on contracts.
• Take part in Operations meetings, provide procurement status reports and comply with E&P policies, local content regulations and tax suspension regimes.

Required profile

• Degree in Purchasing and/or Logistics Administration preferred; long relevant experience may replace the degree requirement.
• Relevant experience in the role.
• Advanced English (oral and written).
• Deep knowledge of the local oil and gas supply market and general knowledge of the international oil and gas supplier market.
• Advantageous: familiarity with oil and gas terminology, technical knowledge of the industry, and knowledge of the design and engineering of FPSOs.
