Sanitation Engineer (Drainage Project)

About the role

The Sanitation Engineer will support UN‑Habitat’s drainage component of the Izidora urban qualification project in Belo Horizonte, working remotely while collaborating with programme, operations and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, review and suggest adjustments to drainage basic projects, ensuring compatibility with sewage and water network designs.
• Prepare technical reports and assessments on drainage projects, including three review cycles per deliverable.
• Provide technical guidance to designers, planners and engineers and ensure compliance with UN‑Habitat quality standards and ABNT guidelines.
• Attend UN‑Habitat and partner meetings and complete mandatory security training (BSAFE).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental or Sanitary Engineering (post‑graduate degree preferred).
• Ability to complete UN security courses and adhere to UN security management procedures.
• Experience reviewing drainage, hydrological and box‑culvert designs.

Required skills
