About the role

The Technical Supervisor (Engineering/Architecture) will support the implementation of the "Vida Nova no Morro" project in Niterói, Brazil. Reporting to the Head of the Brazil Office, the role ensures high‑quality technical supervision of housing assessments and improvement proposals, aligning with UN‑Habitat standards and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical supervision and guidance to Field Agents, ensuring consistent application of project methodologies, technical criteria, protocols, and quality standards.
  • Review and validate technical information and housing assessments produced by Field Agents, including measurements, photographs, sketches, identified building deficiencies, and other relevant records.
  • Conduct quality control of field data and technical assessments, identifying inconsistencies or missing information and guiding corrective actions.
  • Review and validate proposed housing improvement interventions, ensuring alignment with identified deficiencies and technical solutions.
  • Offer technical guidance for complex or atypical cases and participate in field visits when needed.
  • Contribute to defining and applying technical criteria for prioritizing housing improvement interventions.
  • Review preliminary housing improvement designs for feasibility, consistency with field assessments, and compliance with technical criteria.
  • Propose adjustments to technical drawings, specifications, materials, and construction solutions as needed.
  • Ensure technical approval of assessments, interventions, and designs that meet established quality standards.
  • Prepare technical review reports, recommendations, validation records, and documentation of the approval process.
  • Contribute to developing and improving technical guidelines, checklists, templates, and quality‑control procedures.
  • Monitor technical quality of Field Agents’ work, identify recurring issues, and provide inputs for training and methodological alignment.
  • Participate in technical meetings, coordination activities, training sessions, and other project activities as requested.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks related to housing assessments and proposed interventions.
  • Ensure completion of assigned activities within deadlines and in accordance with UN‑Habitat quality standards and ABNT guidelines.
