Senior Accountant

About the role

Thomas College is seeking a detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to join its finance team. The role supports the college’s financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and effective management of grant‑funded activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, record journal entries, and monitor revenue and expense activity.
• Execute month‑end close processes, including account, bank, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare financial reports and assist in the preparation of financial statements.
• Track and report on grant‑funded activity, ensuring compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.
• Support annual audits and prepare schedules and documentation.
• Assist with regulatory filings such as Form 990, IPEDS, and FISAP.
• Contribute to budget development, financial forecasting, and performance analysis.
• Support financial systems, chart of accounts maintenance, and asset management, and participate in system upgrades.
• Partner with campus departments to provide financial guidance and resolve discrepancies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with month‑end close and reconciliations.
