Senior Data & Platform Engineer – Veterinary Tech

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data & Platform Engineer to own and evolve a fast‑growing data platform that powers analytics for veterinary clinics worldwide. You will work remotely within a high‑ownership engineering team, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and cost‑efficiency of our data pipelines and warehouses.

Key responsibilities

• Take end‑to‑end ownership of data platform reliability, including pipelines, warehousing, transformations, and observability.
• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines with Apache Airflow for batch and near‑real‑time workloads.
• Manage and optimize Snowflake data warehouse – schema design, clustering, materialized views, access controls, and cost governance.
• Develop and maintain the dbt transformation layer, handling model design, incremental strategies, dependencies, and documentation.
• Deploy and operate platform services on Kubernetes (EKS), troubleshooting pods and tuning resources.
• Provision infrastructure (Snowflake, Airflow) using Terraform.
• Write high‑quality SQL and Python for ETL, pipeline logic, and data product delivery.
• Administer PostgreSQL as the operational source‑of‑truth, focusing on query optimization, indexing, replication, and migrations.
• Lead the transition to change data capture (CDC) for ingestion, using tools such as Debezium.

Required profile

• Proven experience building data platforms from the ground up.
• Deep expertise in data warehousing concepts and modern cloud data stacks.
• Hands‑on infrastructure management skills, especially with Kubernetes and IaC.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on reliability and cost efficiency.
