Software Engineer – Electro‑Hydraulic Drive Systems

About the role

As a Software Engineer in Bosch Rexroth’s electro‑hydraulic drive division, you will develop production‑ready control software for mobile construction machines such as wheel loaders and excavators. You will work within the global ESS organization, contributing to platform evolution and ensuring alignment with the global architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test control software for electro‑hydraulic drive systems used in construction machinery.
• Contribute to the development and evolution of software platforms, ensuring scalability and re‑usability across regions.
• Support local application teams and external partners during commissioning, optimisation and validation on real machines.
• Adapt global platform software to customer‑specific requirements and define market‑specific extensions.
• Coordinate functional safety and regulatory compliance, applying global development processes.
• Collaborate with software development, sales and product management to deliver projects on schedule.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics or a comparable field.
• Several years of experience in development or optimisation of control software for hydraulic or electro‑hydraulic systems.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with global and local teams.
• Willingness to spend 6‑12 months in a training period in Germany.

Required skills

• Embedded software development for control applications.
• Functional safety knowledge (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
• Understanding of hydraulic drive concepts and electro‑hydraulic control algorithms.
• Experience with software platform integration and version control.
