Senior Software Engineer I

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who brings fresh ideas, has a curious nature and is passionate about building products that achieve the company’s strategic goals. You’ll work with teams across Checkout.com’s portfolio of products and services, all driven by a customer‑first philosophy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and drive specific projects critical to Checkout’s needs.
• Define project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
• Define and design loosely coupled, scalable systems using micro‑services best practices.
• Write clean, maintainable, extendable and testable code.
• Build, own and operate systems to the highest levels of resilience and service.
• Mentor junior team members and support their technical development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in C# .NET, Java, or Go with strong software development fundamentals.
• Great communication skills and ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience working in agile environments and delivering high‑quality code under tight deadlines.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• AI‑proficient or AI‑curious, eager to leverage the latest technologies to boost productivity.
• Payments or financial knowledge is a plus, but not required.
