Applied AI Engineer – Codex

About the role

The Applied AI Engineer will work with OpenAI’s Codex team to help customers adopt AI‑powered coding tools across their software development lifecycle. You will partner with engineering leaders and hands‑on builders to design, prototype, and scale advanced AI workflows that improve developer productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical subject‑matter expert on OpenAI Codex for a portfolio of customers, embedding deeply to enable engineering teams.
• Design and implement AI‑enhanced development workflows, from rapid prototyping to production‑grade rollout.
• Build high‑quality demos, reference implementations, and workflow automations using Codex.
• Lead workshops, technical deep‑dives, and hands‑on enablement sessions for engineering organizations.
• Contribute technical content such as guides, patterns, and best‑practice examples to the OpenAI Cookbook.

Required profile

• 5+ years of technical consulting, post‑sales engineering, or solutions architecture experience working directly with customers.
• Power user of AI coding tools with a personal workflow that demonstrates how engineers can be more productive.
• Proven ability to deliver large‑scale workshops or technical training to engineering teams.
• Experience publishing technical guides or patterns for a developer community.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts and influence customer strategy.
