Field Coordinator for Urban Development Project

About the role

The Field Coordinator will support the implementation of UN-Habitat's Social Territories Program in Rio de Janeiro, ensuring activities align with the approved workplan and quality standards. This consultancy role reports to the Head of the Brazil Office and involves close collaboration with programme, operations and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate implementation of programme activities across assigned territories, monitoring workplans, priorities and deliverables.
• Coordinate with local managers, community organisations and municipal authorities to engage families and ensure inclusive participation.
• Oversee administration of socioeconomic questionnaires and data collection, ensuring methodological and ethical compliance.
• Prepare consolidated progress reports, identify risks and bottlenecks, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science or urban planning field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years of experience in community mobilisation, questionnaire administration and field work in Brazil.
• Professional competence, ethical conduct and ability to work within UN security and accountability frameworks.

Required skills

• Microsoft Windows operating system.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proficiency with web search engines and online platforms.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies.
