FinCrime Analyst

About the role

ARQ, a fast-growing fintech focused on cross-border money movement, is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented FinCrime Analyst in Sao Paulo. You will sit on the front line of financial crime prevention, investigating alerts on KYC/KYB discrepancies (biometric mismatches, fake documents, irregular IDs via Jumio and Persona), PEP/Sanctions/Warnings and transaction monitoring alerts, and helping strengthen the company's AML framework.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and analyse KYC alerts on biometric mismatches, fake documents and irregular IDs using KYC software such as Jumio and Persona
• Investigate PEP, sanctions and warnings alerts and assess risks in line with regulatory requirements
• Review, enhance and optimise transaction monitoring processes to improve detection and reporting of suspicious activity
• Investigate unusual behaviour such as structuring, layering or irregular cross-border transfers and escalate when needed
• Respond to regulatory authority requests accurately and on time
• Work with compliance, risk and operations teams to strengthen AML controls and adapt to evolving regulations
• Monitor financial crime trends and keep up to date with AML regulations and best practice

Required profile

• Fluency in English and Spanish/Portuguese, required for compliance work and liaison with authorities
• Ability to investigate and analyse KYC discrepancies, including biometric mismatches and fake documents
• Strong knowledge of AML and financial crime risks, including transaction monitoring and fraud detection typologies
• Hands-on, results-driven approach to investigations and process improvement
• Nice to have: experience in compliance, AML or financial fraud investigations, and in fintech or financial services
