Director, Settlement Operations, Brazil

About the role

The Director of Settlement Operations will lead Mastercard’s Card Network Settlement Operations in Brazil, overseeing daily settlement processing and ensuring market stability.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee Brazil’s domestic settlement operations, monitor daily payment statuses, resolve funding failures and manage escalations.
• Manage weekly participant onboarding and maintenance for the Mastercard scheme.
• Serve as the Brazil market subject‑matter expert, leading cross‑functional issue resolution and stakeholder engagement.
• Manage the monthly IOF tax withholding process for credit, debit and prepaid card transactions made abroad.
• Lead financial reconciliation and exposure reporting for crisis events and provide analysis to internal stakeholders.
• Support audit and compliance requirements by producing accurate transaction and settlement reports.
• Ensure settlement infrastructure continuity through certificate lifecycle management and operational risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Bilingual in Portuguese and English with strong communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of the Brazilian payments market, trends and systems.
• Demonstrated maturity in managing crisis situations.
• Executive presence and ability to influence across a matrix organization.
• Strong project management and customer focus.
