Operations Associate - São Paulo Office

About the role

Flexport is opening its first office in Brazil in São Paulo and is hiring one of the first local hires as an Operations Associate. The role focuses on building the business in Brazil in a highly cross-functional environment, working with clients, local partners, ocean and air carriers, port and airport terminals, trucking providers, customs brokers and internal teams. It is also about bringing automation and AI-driven tooling into Brazilian logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Pre-insourcing: oversee coordination of import and export shipments across ocean, air and road freight managed by Flexport's agent in Brazil, ensuring service levels, compliance and efficiency, and map and structure import and export processes in Brazil to prepare for insourcing.
• Post-insourcing: coordinate import and export shipments in Brazil with ocean carriers, airlines, trucking companies and other local providers, ensuring efficiency and adherence to service levels.
• Act as a trusted advisor and coach to the Flexport team worldwide on Brazil-related matters, working with Sales, Account Management, Trade Lane Managers and Operations to develop logistics solutions, resolve issues, find improvements and support new business.
• Act as the point of contact for local customers in Brazil, providing operational support as needed.

Required profile

• Bilingual in English and Portuguese; Spanish is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree.
• 2+ years of experience in freight forwarding, ocean carrier or co-loader operations.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and a compliance-first approach.

Required skills

• Experience building and refining dashboards to track performance.
• Hands-on daily use of AI tools, or a strong affinity for learning them quickly.
