Procurement Specialist - Capex

About the role

The Procurement Specialist – Capex will manage end‑to‑end bidding processes for equipment and services, ensuring optimal commercial, technical and contractual outcomes. Working closely with engineering, project management and operations, the role is a key point of accountability within Alcoa’s procurement function in São Luís, Brazil.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct full RFI/RFP cycles for equipment and services, aligning with scope, cost, schedule and quality requirements.
• Identify and prospect new suppliers, defining and implementing procurement strategies that support project objectives.
• Perform commercial analysis of proposals, including comparison, evaluation and technical alignment.
• Execute Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessments to guide purchasing decisions.
• Lead contract negotiations, establishing performance‑based and milestone payment structures.
• Analyze demand consolidation to create packaging opportunities and drive cost reductions.
• Improve supplier performance on critical packages while ensuring compliance with engineering, quality and stakeholder requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in procurement, contracts or commodity management, preferably in project environments.
• Ability to work across time zones in global teams and advanced English proficiency is desirable.
• Willingness to work on‑site in São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Competent use of Microsoft PowerPoint.
