Senior Retention Specialist, Copy & Content

About the role

Darkroom is seeking a senior Retention Specialist who will own the voice of a high‑growth consumer‑technology client. You will write email and SMS copy, direct creative, and keep a fast‑moving marketing calendar as output scales.

Key responsibilities

• Write email and SMS copy for campaigns, flows, and automations across the client’s program.
• Develop and maintain the client’s marketing calendar, flagging capacity risks early.
• Create clear creative briefs and give specific design direction.
• Review and approve designs in Figma, leaving actionable feedback.
• Own the brand voice and copy guidelines, ensuring consistency across segmented audiences.
• Partner with the CRM Specialist to align copy, segmentation logic, and dynamic content.
• Proof every send for copy, links, personalization, and rendering.
• Analyze performance with the Associate Director and iterate copy tests.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of experience writing marketing copy, with a strong portfolio.
• Proven ability to write short‑form copy (subject lines, pre‑headers, SMS) that drives measurable results.
• Experience crafting full funnel copy: lead capture, welcome series, activation, loyalty, and win‑back programs.
• Comfort working from segmentation strategies and producing distinct copy for distinct audiences.
• Detail‑obsessed proofing skills and ability to iterate quickly based on feedback.
