Software Engineer – IoT Applications

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join TRACTIAN’s Engineering team and build high‑performance applications that process massive streams of sensor data for our IoT condition‑monitoring platform. The role focuses on designing, implementing and maintaining event‑driven services that make sensor information reliable and available to internal products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data‑intensive applications using Go, Python and/or Rust.
• Implement and optimise queue mechanisms (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) to handle high‑volume data streams.
• Create tools that enable internal teams to explore and visualise sensor performance data.
• Collaborate with firmware, data and product teams to ensure seamless integration of event‑driven components.
• Optimise data‑processing workflows for efficiency, reliability and low latency.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• Proven experience as a software developer working with large data volumes or IoT solutions.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work under strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Go, Python, Rust (optional C/C++).
• Message‑queue technologies: Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, Scylla, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Redis.
• Understanding of distributed systems, event‑driven architecture and algorithms.
• Familiarity with security best practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
