Accounting Team Lead (Remote)

About the role

World Business Lenders provides short-term commercial loans backed by real estate to small and medium-sized US businesses. It is looking for an Accounting Team Lead to join its Finance team and manage the accrual side of accounting for key operations, including loan-related income and expenses, in line with US GAAP. The role contributes to monthly and yearly financial reporting and leads a team of two accounting analysts so that work is accurate and meets the 10-business-day closing deadline. It is a contract/consultant position, fully remote, with working hours typically 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare FAS 91 working papers for deferred income and expense accounting.
• Reconcile loan collections with bank activity and post the accounting entries.
• Calculate asset resolution gains and losses, and prepare weekly calculations.
• Account for interest expense and income, prepaid expenses, loan suspense adjustments and loan-related income and expenses.
• Prepare account reconciliations for balance sheet items.
• Lead the team of 2 accounting analysts and review their work weekly.
• Determine the appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions and events.

Required profile

• Graduation or post-graduation in Accounting, with Intermediate Chartered Accountancy (Inter-CA).
• 5 to 10 years of accounting experience.
• Experience leading or supervising accounting team members.
• Availability Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, with a stable internet connection and a professional remote working setup.
• CV submitted in English; preferred background in banking, real estate or service-based US businesses.

Required skills

• Strong practical knowledge of US GAAP and US GAAP financial reporting.
• Experience with Sage 300LAPRO, Power BI, advanced Excel and accounting ERP systems.
• Clear, timely communication, accountability and leadership.
