Drilling Fluid Operator

About the role

Noblecorp is hiring a Drilling Fluid Operator to work under the direction of the Driller and support ongoing rig operations. The role covers operating and monitoring derrick equipment and mud systems, performing housekeeping and material preservation duties, and assisting other personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor derrick equipment and mud systems under the Driller's direction, and handle drill pipe or tubing when being hoisted out or lowered into the hole.
• Report mud condition and pumping equipment status to the Driller, and assign crew members to work details as needed.
• Maintain periodic checks on mud weight and viscosity, add mud or chemicals as directed by the mud engineer, and help with day-to-day rig, maintenance and mud problems.
• Relieve the Assistant Driller or Driller as required, supervise and assist in mud room activities, and complete paperwork as directed.
• Perform maintenance and repair duties, including preventative maintenance of the crown block, traveling block and other derrick equipment, keeping the pump room, pit room and deck clean, and maintaining the shale shaker and mud pumps.
• Know the location and operation of well control equipment, the blowout preventer (BOP), accumulator and firefighting equipment, and become familiar with blowout and shut-in procedures.
• Follow safety and environmental requirements, attend pre-tour and weekly safety meetings, develop Job Safety Analyses and hazard assessments, and take the initiative on emergency duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of experience as Derrickman, or completion of Derrickman core competency instruction.
• Completion of all training requirements for the position within the designated time period.
