QMED / Oiler

About the role

The Oiler works under the direction of the Technical Section Leader and performs maintenance and repair of rig main engines and auxiliary systems. The role also covers general housekeeping and painting/preservation in the engineering spaces, and assisting the Engine Room Responsible or Mechanic with routine maintenance of drilling, auxiliary and support systems.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, operate and maintain rig main engines and auxiliary systems, and help with drilling, auxiliary and support system maintenance.
• Perform preventative maintenance according to the programme, under the direction of the Chief Engineer or designee.
• Keep the engine room and machinery spaces clean, paint and preserve them, and keep equipment and tools stowed.
• Maintain daily operating logs and ensure permits, isolation tags and logs accurately reflect equipment status.
• Help finish repairs and projects on schedule and keep equipment failures within contractual limits.
• Report on parts, tools and supplies needed for the equipment you are responsible for.
• Assist the 3rd Engineer with rig power generating equipment and drives, and air, fuel, water, cooling and heating systems.
• Participate in developing new team members and keep good two-way communication with crew.
• Follow Noble's safety policies, including the Live Safe Code, Hazard Identification Tool, daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings, and stop-the-job planning.
• Develop Job Safety Analyses and hazard assessments, and comply with government regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in an engine room working on large-scale diesel engines.
• Completion of all training requirements for the position within the designated time period.
• QMED/Oiler endorsement or higher for the flag state of the vessel.
