Local Mobiliser

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Local Mobiliser to support the Periferia Viva Program in Santo André, Brazil. The consultant will work closely with UN‑Habitat’s operational and technical teams to drive socio‑territorial transformation in vulnerable urban areas.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement community‑based interventions aimed at improving urban infrastructure, such as paving, sewage, and micro‑drainage.
• Facilitate engagement with local residents, grassroots organisations, and municipal authorities to ensure participatory planning.
• Support the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Development and Housing in monitoring project progress and reporting outcomes.
• Assist in the design and delivery of capacity‑building activities for community empowerment.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in community mobilisation, urban development, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments and with government entities.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
