Programme Assistant – 2‑month consultancy

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Programme Assistant to support the implementation of the Periferia Viva Maré Project in Rio de Janeiro. This short‑term consultancy (approximately two months) will work closely with UN‑Habitat’s operational and technical teams and report to the Head of the Brazil Office.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative and logistical support for planning, executing, and following up project activities, including meetings, missions, and events.
• Assist in the preparation, organization, and consolidation of technical documents and reports.
• Coordinate with municipal authorities, UN‑Habitat staff, and partners to ensure smooth project operations.
• Maintain project files, track deliverables, and support monitoring and evaluation activities.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in administrative or project support roles, preferably within international development or UN agencies.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Portuguese is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multicultural environments.
