Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

As a senior backend‑focused engineer you will design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems that power Sardine’s fraud‑prevention platform. You will work on large‑scale features, improve internal tooling, and help shape product and technical roadmaps while collaborating across engineering and product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, create, and maintain robust, efficient, and reliable backend services to meet evolving platform needs.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to architect and implement new services from inception to delivery.
• Develop new features and capabilities that deliver substantial value to customers.
• Work with engineering and product teams to synchronize efforts and deliver cutting‑edge solutions.
• Craft and maintain user‑facing technical documentation.
• Help shape the company’s engineering culture and uphold high standards.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in web backend development.
• Proven track record delivering high‑quality production services.
• Customer‑centric mindset with empathy for users.
• Experience in banking, fintech, or fraud‑prevention domains.
• Fluent English communication.

Required skills

• Golang (preferred).
• Data engineering experience.
• TypeScript, React, Node.js.
• Ruby.
• Bigtable, PostgreSQL.
• Google Cloud Platform Dataflow (Apache Beam) and BigQuery.
• Python, Java.
• Terraform.
